RCV Skaters Shine on the National Stage at Skate Canada Trophy

At the Racquet Club of Victoria, we believe every skating journey matters, from those very first shaky steps on the ice to the moment an athlete steps onto the national stage.

This season, that journey carried Ruby and Nathan all the way to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, where they competed at the 2026 Skate Canada Trophy, proudly representing RCV among the top young skaters in the country. Qualifying for nationals is never easy, especially out of British Columbia, one of Canada’s deepest and most competitive skating provinces. The path demands years of early mornings, perseverance through setbacks, unwavering focus, and an incredible amount of heart. Ruby and Nathan showed all of this and more throughout their journey to nationals.

While in Dartmouth, both athletes delivered strong performances against the best in Canada:

Nathan finished 8th in Canada in the Pre-Novice Men event

Ruby placed 26th in Canada in the Novice Ladies division

But the true value of this experience reaches far beyond placements. Nationals are where resilience is built, lessons are learned, and new dreams begin to take shape. These moments shape athletes not only as competitors, but as people, teaching confidence, courage, and the power of persistence.

Back home in Victoria, the RCV community came together in support. Even our CanSkate class paused to watch on the livestream with skaters, coaches, and families cheering side by side a powerful reminder that every national-level journey begins right here in our club. This achievement is shared by many.

Thank you to Coach Matt for leading and supporting the athletes in Dartmouth, and to our incredible network of RCV coaches, families, sponsors, and facilities who make high-performance pathways possible.
