The Racquet Club would like to congratulate Heather Hanna who competed in New Brunswick in the National Starskate Championship in Gold Triathlon.

 

The Racquet Club of Victoria would like to congratulate the following skaters who competed at the provincial Pacific Starskate Championships in March:

Heather Hanna won the gold medal in Gold Triathlon and is heading to Starskate Nationals

Hanna Vincent won the silver medal in Bronze Interpretive

April Turgeon placed 4th in Gold Interpretive

Allee Friend  placed 5th in Silver Triathlon

Ashley Sawchuk who placed 7th in Silver Interpretive

Here are the results from the 2009 BMO Skate Canada Junior Nationals held February 11-14, 2009 in Calgary, AB

Pilar and Leonardo Maekawa have won the bronze medal in pre-novice dance!

Leonardo Maekawa placed 5th in pre-novice men’s free skate!

Casey Beavil and Josiah Early placed 10th in pre-novice pairs!

Malcolm Ronan O’Halloran  and Nicole Orford (NSWC) placed 12th in novice dance!

Congratulations to you all! We are so proud of you!!

Congratulations to our Lynn Hetherington Competitors!

Congratulations to all skaters who competed at Lynn Hetherington January 30- February 1, 2009 in Campbell River.

Special Congratulations to our Canskate soloists Rachel Grohovac 1st, Erina Katsumata  1st, Brooke Herring 2nd , Danae Snell 3rd , Emma Hanna 4th, Garrison Beacom 4th ( the youngest skater at the competition).

Also, special congratulations to the skaters that qualified for the provincial StarSkate championship, Pacific Skate: April Turgeon 1st in Gold Interpretive, Ashley Sawchuk 1st in Silver Interpretive, Hanna Vincent 2nd in Bronze Interpretive, Allee Friend 3rd in Silver triathlon. Thank-you to the Barnes family  who videotaped the show at Butchart Gardens. Proceeds from the purchased video were donated to the Racquet Club. Thank-you!

Congratulations to Racquet Club skaters who competed at the 2009 BMO SKATE CANADA SUB-SECTIONALS and SECTIONALS in Nanaimo Nov.12-16, 2008!

Special Congratulations go to Pilar Maekawa and Leonardo Maekawa who placed first in Pre-Novice Dance, Malcolm Rohon O' Halloran who placed first in Novice Dance and Leonardo Maekawa who placed 4th in Pre-Novice Men's Freeskate. These skaters have all qualified on to the Western Challenge!

Bringing home the gold medals were: Pilar Maekawa and Leonardo Maekawa in Pre-Novice Dance, Malcolm Rohon O'Halloran and Nicole Orford ( NSWC), Novice Dance

Silver Medal: Casey Beavil and Josiah Early, Pre-Novice Pairs. Casey and Josiah will be competing at Junior Nationals!

Bronze Medal: Matthew Den Boer, Pre-Juvenile Men

Also competing at Sections were Dominique Banner in Pre-Novice Ladies, Pilar Maekawa in Pre-Novice Ladies,  and Josiah Early in Novice Men.

The Racquet Club of Victoria Skating Club is proud of all skaters who competed at the Vancouver Island Regional Championships held in Victoria, October 24-26, 2008.

We saw fantastic performances, some personal bests and new programs debuted. Congratulations!

Bringing home the gold were: Leonardo Maekawa and Pilar Maekawa, Pre-Novice Dance; Allee Friend, Gold Interpretive.

Silver medal winners were: April Turgeon, Gold Interpretive; Allee Friend, Senior Silver Ladies; Laura Sawchuk, Introductory Interpretive.

Bronze medal winners were: Ashley Sawchuk, Silver Interpretive; Hanna Vincent, Bronze Interpretive; Brooke Herring, CanSkate Solo.

Special congratulations to first time competitors Brooke Herring and Karmen Tse who sparkled on the ice!

 

 

Congratulations to Leonardo Maekawa and Brianna Antypowich who competed at the  2008 Sask Skate Invitational Competition in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, October 10-12!

Gold Tests!

Congratulations to April Turgeon, Kelsey Ross and Kirsten Noel who all passed their Gold dance tests. April now has her gold in interpretive and dance, Kelsey has her gold in freeskate, skills and dance and Kirsten now has her gold in dance, interpretive, skills and freeskate.

Congratulations to Amanda Warwaruk who passed her gold skills.This is Amanda's first gold test.

Way to go, Skaters!!

Butchart Gardens 2007 Holiday Ice Show Complete with Snow!

It was a winter wonderland at the Racquet Club's Annual Butchart Garden's Holiday Ice Show. Not only did we have the magic of the snow, we had a special guest performance by Olympian Gary Beacom. What a great afternoon!
