Another Milestone is Reached at the Racquet Club!

Special Congratulations go to Kelsey Ross who passed her Senior Competitive test on February 7!

Kelsey is a university student that works hard to keep up her grades while training to be a national competitor. Kelsey moved away from her home in Nanaimo at the tender age of 16 to come and train at the Racquet Club.

Kelsey passed her Senior Competitive test, which is the highest of all tests and requires her to perform a 4 minute solo which includes a double axel and a triple jump in order to pass.

We are very proud of Kelsey and she is now added to the small list of Island skaters that have achieved this amazing feat.

GREAT JOB, KELSEY!!

Pilar and Leonardo Maekawa are rubbing shoulders with the best figure skaters in the world as they volunteer at the Olympics in Vancouver.

Lynn Hetherington Memorial Competition

Congratulations to all of our skaters who competed at the Lynn Hetherington Memorial Competition, January 29-31, 2010 in Fuller Lake!

Racquet Club Skaters Dazzle the Crowds at Butchart Gardens

It was a winter wonderland at the Racquet Club's Annual Butchart Garden's Holiday Ice Show. Not only did we have the magic of the holiday season, we had a special guest performance by Olympian Gary Beacom. What a great afternoon!

Congratulations to:

Pilar Maekawa and Leonardo Maekawa who won the Silver medal at the 2010 BMO Skate Canada BC/YT Section Championship in Novice Dance! They head to Mississauga, December 2-6 to compete int he Western Cahallenge.

Mica Grant Haden and Liam Kinrade who placed 5th in Pre-Novice dance and are alternates to the Western Challenge

Dominique Banner and Dylan Lysne who placed 4th in Juvenile Dance

Leonardo Maekawa who placed 4th in Novice Men's Freeskate

Matthew den Boer who placed 5th in Juvenile Men's freeskate

Dominique Banner who competed in Pre-Novice Ladies and has qualified for BC Winter Games

Jillian Noel who competed in Pre-Novice Ladies

Racquet Club Rocks Out at Halloween!

Thanks to the many families who came out to the RCV Halloween Dance and Silent Auction on October 16. We enjoyed several Halloween games, dancing, the limbo, pizza and more! This was a fun and successful fundraiser for our club!

Congratulations to Racquet Club's very own Malcolm Rohon O' Halloran who is making his international premier at the fourth ISU Junior Grand Prix in Minsk, Belarus. Malcolm will be competing in Junior Dance with his partner Nicole Orford from Burnaby. Good luck to Malcom and Nicole!!!

Racquet Club Coach, Gary Beacom, 1988 World Professional Champion, supported the Hope On Ice event by guest starring along with figure skating legend Don Jackson and World Vice Champion and 5 time Canadian Champion, Joannie Rochette in Toronto in May.
